Who are the officers and how were they selected?
In UNITE, officers receive the name of "Multicultural Delegates." Five students are selected every spring, through a Faculty's nomination process, and Trinity awards them with the participation to "Connections Institute," a summer residential program which helps them to develop an Action Plan for UNITE. Multicultural Delegates are also Trinity's representatives at any other external student event related to diversity.UNITE's multicultural delegates for 2010-2011 are Taylor Powell (12th), Suma Chaparala (11th), Rachel Landis (11th), Pamela Lohmuller (10th), Angie Scott (10th).
What type of activities and events can I expect in UNITE?
UNITE has different types of meetings/events that intend to raise awareness and celebrate difference. Join us and share your ideas!
- Dialogue Series: a theme or a current event (news article, book, etc), related to any multicultural/diversity topic is selected. Members are invited for a dialogue based on this info. Officers or members may also volunteer to give a presentation or share an experience.
- Campaigns: In creative and informative ways, UNITE will seek to bring awareness and to promote values for positive human relationships.
- Film Series: Screening of films that may help to bring understanding of differences (appearance, race, socio-economics, culture, religion, disabilities, gender, sexual orientation, etc)
- Special Events: national/global holidays (cultural, religious, disabilities, etc.), International Students, parties, contests, field trips, etc.
